What Ofsted said about us in 2005

“ Spinning Infant School is a very good school with some excellent features”

In February 2005 we were inspected by Ofsted and the children, staff, Governors and parents are very proud of the Inspection Team’s judgements.

The overall evaluation states that “This is a very good school with some excellent features. Throughout the school, children and pupils achieve very well, and by the time that pupil leaves the school, standards are well above average in English, Mathematics and Science. The excellent leadership of the Headteacher, the very good teaching, excellent team spirit and the school’s excellent commitment to inclusion are all factors that contribute significantly to the school’s many successes…….”

Inspectors judged that the school provides an excellent level of inclusion and that pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent. Attitudes and behaviour are “very good”, the quality of education is “very good” and overall leadership and management is “very good.” All of the 29 areas were judged to be “good, very good, or excellent”. In the words of the Inspection Team, “satisfactory” is not a word associated with Spinning Infant School!

Obviously we are delighted to receive such high praise from the DfE inspectors. The full report is available at school for parents to take away on request.

The school's additional strengths include a wide range of vibrant and exciting learning opportunities on offer with visits, visitors and extra-curricular activities.

There is a high standard of care and welfare provided for the pupil, which recognises and celebrates the uniqueness of the individual, says the report.

The discussions with pupils revealed that "staff are always ready to listen and there is always somebody to talk to if they have any problems or concerns.

"The pupils do not feel bullying is an issue".

Inspectors also noted: "The very good attitudes and behaviour of the pupils add much to the excellent ethos of the school. Pupils show a real thirst for learning, have very positive attitudes, and the fact that they love coming to school is reflected in the attendance rates, which are above the national average".
